LIQUOR LICENSING FEE REDUCTIONS 2021/2022

Recently, the South Australian Government has made an important announcement regarding liquor licensing fees. As another support measure, eligible businesses will receive a fifty percent (50) fee reduction on their 2021/22 annual license fee. This is to aid businesses in the sector that was one of the worst affected by the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown and restrictions.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Licensees (businesses with a liquor licence) are eligible for the fee reduction provided:

  • They themselves received a JobKeeper payment
  • One or more of their employees received a JobKeeper payment
  • The JobKeeper payment was received between the 4th January and 28th March 2021 (this year)

It is crucial for applicants to have documented evidence of these payments. When applying, you are required to attach a fortnightly receipt showing payments claimed for a single fortnight between the 4th January and 28th March 2021. These receipts were issued to claimants by the Australian Tax Office (ATO) and only a receipt issued by the ATO will be accepted documentation.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applications are open from now until 5pm Friday 21st May 2021 in order for the fee reduction to apply to your upcoming annual liquor licensing renewal notice. It is vital to submit this application soon before the deadline prevents your business from being able to claim the reduction.
